The wizard is the largest offensive force on the side of good. What the wizard lacks in combat skill is more than made up for in the powerful and diverse magical arsenal. When in group combat a well defended wizard is worth their weight in gold as they are capable of taking the largest of foes down in a few casts. Wizards have a need to keep their hands and body free in combat in order to make the intricate movements required for spell casting. An undefended wizard is easy to kill if you can live through their initial assault.
