Your race will be very important in Vagabond’s Quest 2, as races have modifier bonuses and penalties that may greatly affect your player. While all race-class combos are playable, some will be far more effective than others. For example: Dwarves, who get a strength bonus and an intelligence penalty, will make far better fighters than wizards.

Human

Humans are the widest and most diverse race, with height ranging from 5’ to 7’ tall and weight being between 100 to 300 pounds. This diversity is both an advantage and a disadvantage, as human have no special attributes. This means a human is a good choice for all classes.

Half-Elf

Half-Elves are half human and half elven, and while they don’t get the full bonus of their elvish brethren they are more nimble than a human. The typical half-elf is between 6’ – 6’6” and slender with a somewhat frail body. Half-Elves make a good choice for almost every class, but be aware that their body cannot take as much damage as humans.

Elf

Elves are tall and slender warriors standing over 6’6” tall. Their mind is keen and their reflexes fast, but their body is frail and strength is weak. The elvish society is very closed, and the only way to get inside is to be an elf. On the other hand, elves are not always welcomed with open arms by other races. Elves are perfect for any spell casting class.

Dwarf

Dwarves are strong and stout miners of the deep earth. They stand 5’ tall at most and weigh in at 300 or more pounds of pure muscle, but their most distinguishing feature is their long beard. While they're short, sturdy bodies give them incredible strength and endurance, their minds aren’t very keen and their reflexes are slow. Dwarves make the best fighters.

Gnome

Gnomes are believed to be an ancient cross between a dwarf and an elf , but very little is known about this very secretive race. They are slightly taller than dwarves, but their build is not nearly as stout and their minds are much sharper. Gnomes possess the firm sword arm needed for fighting as well as the intelligence required for spell casting, and therefore serve best in classes that can utilize both attributes.

Halfling

Halflings are odd little creatures that stand about half the size of humans and weigh in at no more than about 120 pounds. Their size alone gives them a disadvantage in both strength and endurance. However, their small bodies are unusually quick, and while their minds aren’t as quick as the elves, they aren’t especially slow either. Halflings are best used whenever you want your player to have great speed and don’t mind the drop in strength and endurance.
